2012 New Adult Challenge

I love me some YA (duh!), but I also love books with older YA characters -- those ones that qualify as "new adult" ... that age where the characters aren't quite part of general fiction, but don't belong in high school either. So I'm thrilled that Danya is hosting a New Adult reading challenge for 2012.

I think I'll aim for the "Moving Out" level, which is 6 books, but we'll see!

Here are some books I'm thinking about reading:

And here are some suggestions of AWESOME books that qualify for the challenge:

I've also made a Goodreads shelf for New Adult books I've read and for ones that are on my TBR list. You can find the shelf here.

  1. Thanks so much for signing up for the challenge, Ashley! I can definitely recommend The Host — it's a bit slow-moving at the beginning, but stick with it and there's some fabulous characterization and interpersonal relations that go on. The psychology of having two souls inhabiting one body is fascinating!

Also, I've read Saving Francesca but haven't gotten to The Piper's Son yet...I've heard amazing things about it so it's definitely on my list!

  2. I bought 'The Host' like the first week it came out, so I am definitely overdue to read it, haha. But I've heard from a lot of people that it's pretty darn good.

Oh man, 'The Piper's Son' is EPIC. Thomas Mackee just makes me cry.

  3. Great idea for a challenge and nice selection of books. It seems like there is a lot of opportunity for this market. I could not get through The Host though I tried a couple times.
I'm interested in the McCafferty, Marchetta & Peterfreund books though! Good luck with the challenge :)

  4. Ooh, I like the sound of this challenge. I'm on my way to join in. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment; I appreciate each one!
